Program update: COACH for Kids mobile healthcare

Cedars‐Sinai Medical Center’s COACH For Kids and Their Families program, which just celebrated its 20th Anniversary, continues to serve the homeless community of the Los Angeles area by providing services such as: medical care, immunizations, mental health services, dental education and dental services, and nutritional education, thanks in part to a grant from KVBFF.

COACH has fostered a greater sense of trust with the homeless by collaborating and providing services for residents at multiple homeless shelters as well as participating in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Homeless Program Collaborative. The COACH Healthy Smiles and Be Healthy, Be Strong! teams recently visited KVBFF partner My Friend’s Place to begin building relationships with parents, children and staff. They returned on June 23, 2014, to provide dental hygiene education to the parent group.

My Friends Place and COACH are a welcomed sight to those in need. They feed, heal, tutor and coach young people. There’s a brick building, which tends to homeless youths, that I usually walk pass everyday. It lets me know that everything, every person is accounted for. Keep up the good work. Youths are definitely part of the future.
